Ch-ch-ch-changes!!

So many changes have taken place since my last post.  I won't bore you with them, but let's say my personal life has done a complete 180, and I'm in the process of trying to restart my professional life.  The former has been the most difficult lately.  Nothing like trying to decide what you want to be when you thought that was all taken care of already.  So I'm off to keep searching & networking online a little more.  If you hear of something, keep me in mind! =)

Ni Hao, Kai Lan!

Happy Monday! I just wanted to share a page I finished over the weekend. The photos are from one of MANY trips to Build-A-Bear Workshop.

I punched lots of circles from 6 different patterns, in 3 different sizes to make up the border across the top. Then I hand-stitched something on almost all of them using Honeydew twine from The Twinery. Close up of the stitching:

I also hand-stitched the little "flags" onto each photo using the twine:

The title is done with raw chipboard letters from Basic Grey. She named her Hello Kitty "Kai Lan" after the TV Show, "Ni Hao, Kai Lan!" because they both are done with similar animation, so she thought they went together =)

Thanks for stopping by!

What Have I Gotten Myself Into?!

Big news for me! On Superbowl Sunday, I offered to run a 5K with an awesome 11-year-old who is a super close friend of ours. Problem is, I don't run.

I figured 3 months is more than enough time to get my, ah-hem, booty in gear and be in good enough shape to pull it off - as long as I start right away. So what happens? The next day I get sick. Now two weeks have come and gone and I finally feel I can breathe well enough to start running today. I must say, I did better than I expected, but I have a lot of work to do before our big race. I'm really hoping this helps me learn to love to run, because that is something I've always wished I was able to do.

So wish us luck, I have 10 weeks of training left and I survived Day 1!

Busy Crafting Weekend!

I was inspired by a sketch from Liz Qualman's blog, and I came up with this layout. It was done with My Little Yellow Bicycle's Boardwalk Collection. I love the Puffy & Canvas stickers and paper in this collection. I loved how Liz used twine on her layout, so I did something similar with twine from The Twinery.

This is a scrapbook page of my daughter's first day of Pre-School. I used Nikki Sivils' School Is Cool line and baker's twine from The Twinery.I had so much fun playing with the colors and different patterns!

Here are the Valentine's we made for my daughter's Pre-School class. I used Bazzill cardstock to make the toppers, BasicGrey and K&Co stickers to decorate them and attached little baggies of treats using baker's twine from The Twinery.

I hope you enjoyed these! Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome!

I've put off starting a blog for a while... at first I just didn't know what I would say. Then I didn't think anyone would care. After a while, I really wanted to, but didn't know what to focus the blog on. This weekend, I decided, you know what, it's about ME. I'll post things that matter to me. It may be crafts, it could be my beautiful family, something humorous, or it could be my opinion about something I feel strongly about.

Once it was time to think of a name, I stressed a little. I'm the girl that took up until it was time to leave the hospital to name my daughter. I don't eat beef or pork, and I'll still take 30 minutes to decide which chicken dish I'll eat at a restaurant. I needed something that was obviously me, but I could use for any aspect of my life. Then it hit me. EVERY time I give me name, I have to correct the person I give it to, can't get more personal than that! So now here you are, "Jennie with an I-E."

I hope you enjoy my ramblings and photos and visit often!
